What is WFO PRK?
Wavefront Optimised PRK is a form of laser eye surgery that blends wavefront technology concepts with the benefits of PRK. It entails altering the surface of the cornea using an excimer laser in order to cure refractive problems such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
The “wavefront optimised” component tries to optimise the therapy based on the unique characteristics of each individual’s eyes, resulting in better visual results and a lower chance of visual disturbances like glare and halos.
WFO PRK at a glance:
- Individualised therapy based on eye features for optimal visual outcomes.
- Corrects myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, among other refractive abnormalities.
- Procedure that is less invasive and has a rapid recovery period.
- Reduced likelihood of visual disruptions like glare and halos.
- Permanent effects that provide steady improvement in vision over time.
- Suitable for Individuals with thin corneas or other characteristics that preclude them from having LASIK.
- Potentially Improved night vision and contrast sensitivity.
- Provides a clear, unassisted vision alternative to glasses or contact lenses.

When we see the light entering the eye, it is bent by the cornea, and the lens focuses on the retina. Images may appear to be blurry if the light doesn’t correctly focus.
The four most common types of refractive errors are:
