LASER PROCEDURE
LPI for GlaucomaÂ
Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (LPI) is a treatment for closed-angle glaucoma. The procedure is performed by making a small hole in the outer part of your iris using a laser. LPI treatment is completed in a matter of minutes. If the patient faces an issue, this procedure can also reduce eye pressure. LPI is covered by most insurances and reimbursed by Medicare.
SLT for Glaucoma
Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) reduces eye pressure for glaucoma patients and may eliminate or reduce the need for eye drops. SLT improves the outflow of fluid from the eye by stimulating the body’s natural mechanisms to remove the fluid. This procedure is completed in a couple of minutes and requires zero recovery time. SLT is covered by most insurance plans and reimbursed by Medicare.
SURGICAL PROCEDURE
EYELID LESION REMOVAL
Various bumps and growths on a patient’s eyelids are removed during this procedure. This procedure usually requires no stitches.
PUNCTAL PLUG INSERTION
This procedure alleviates dry eyes by inserting a plug into the eye’s tear drainage system. These plugs help keep more tears on the eye’s surface, where the most moisture is needed. The plugs can be removed at a later time if the patient wishes.
PUNCTAL PROBING AND IRRIGATION
Water eyes and excessive tearing may be resolved by opening partially blocked tear ducts. A simple and comfortable procedure diagnoses and treats watery eyes by flushing a small amount of fluid through the tear drainage system.
CHALAZION EXCISION
A chalazion or STYE is a common problem with an eyelid. When one of the tiny glands in the eyelids is clogged, the gland becomes swollen, red, inflamed, and painful. A warm compress and medication may help to resolve the STY. Suppose the STY does not respond to conservative treatment. In that case, it can be drained quickly and safely with a minor surgical procedure.
PTERYGIUM REMOVAL
A pterygium is a growth of the conjunctiva (the clear skin that covers the white of the eye) onto the cornea. It can be unsightly and cause redness, irritation, and blurry vision. A pterygium can be removed in the operating room quickly, safely, and without stitches.
