What is Cataract?
A cataract is a clouding of the natural lens in your Eye. When the lens becomes cloudy, vision blurs and colours are distorted. For most, cataracts are a natural result of ageing. Even though cataracts could also be caused by eye injuries, certain systemic diseases, previous infection, inflammation of the Eye, prolonged steroid usage and, in some rare cases, congenital, babies may be born with a congenital cataract.

How can I tell if I have Cataract?
Cataracts are the leading cause of vision loss among ageing adults. The following are the most common symptoms of cataracts. If you experience any of the following, we suggest scheduling a cataract evaluation or a cataract operation in Hyderabad.
Blurry Vision
Increased Sensitivity to Sunlight
Night Blindness
Loss of vivid colours
A sensation of a film covering your eyes
Difficulty in Driving at Night
Frequent change in glasses
Cataract surgery options
The only way to get rid of a cataract is a surgical procedure – to surgically remove the clouded lens by a procedure known as Phacoemulsification, also known as Laser Cataract Surgery, and replace it with an intraocular lens implant (IOL)
Depending on your post-operative visual needs and goals, IOL can be:
- Monofocal IOL
- Toric IOL
- Multifocal IOL
- Extended Depth Of Focus IOL (EDOF)
